A Semantic Web Approach
In chapter 9 of the book Creating Design Knowledge in Educational Innovation, Peter Reimann and I address a significant gap in educational design: How can learning design principles be effectively managed and shared at scale?
We introduce a Semantic Web approach to digitally represent, store, and contextualize design principles, enhancing trust and accessibility for educators and researchers.
Key insights include:
1. The development of a Design Principles Knowledge Graph, linking design theory, empirical evidence, and practical use.
2. Extensions to conjecture mapping to improve contextual understanding and usability of design principles.
3. Recommendations for creating scalable, multi-language digital infrastructures for global educational use.
We hope our work will spark further dialogue on the future of education design! 🧑🏫💻
